Floyd Raymond Phillips

Floyd’s life began on August 13, 1937, in Lewisburg, MO. He was the son of Clarence and Margaret (Hendrix) Phillips.

Floyd grew up in Council Grove where his family worked on the Whiting Farm and attended school in White City. He served his country in the United States Navy and was stationed in San Francisco. After his service, he returned to Kansas to work at the Fairmont Creamery in Council Grove and raise his family in Wilsey here his wife Laura taught elementary school. Floyd worked in dairy plants in Kansas and Missouri all his life. When he was not working, he enjoyed fishing and camping.

Floyd is survived by his wife Laura Phillips of Atlanta, daughter Robin (Kevin) Lackey of Atlanta, sister Ruby Phillips Ash, sister-inlaw Lola Phillips, grandchildren Matthew Phillips, Nate Lackey, Max Lackey, Tony Phillips, Alicia Phillips Maize, Stephanie Phillips, and Khrislyn Robinett and ten great grandchildren.

Floyd passed away on April 13, 2024, in Atlanta, GA. He is preceded in death by his parents, sons Raymond Phillips, Ronald Phillips, and Robert Phillips, siblings Bill Phillips, Willard Phillips, Margaret Phillips, Dorothy Phillips, and Robert Phillips.

His family will gather with friends on Friday April 19 from 5-7 p.m. at the Sawyer Funeral Home, Council Grove. His funeral service will be held at the First Congregational Church in Council Grove on Saturday at 10 a.m. He will be laid to rest in the Wilsey Cemetery.
